Why magped pedals?
Designed in Austria by automotive engineers, we are dedicated to innovation, quality and performance.
Magped magnetic pedals are not equipped with a firm mechanical connection comparable to standard clipless pedals. The magnetic force is impacted by several factors e.g. magnet size, dirt, wear and direction of force applied. An unintended disconnection from the pedals is possible at any point of time.

I bought orange Sport 2 pedals for my gravel bike. I was looking for something to increase my efficiency on climbs and help me feel more connected to my bike without actually being connected. These have been working perfectly. There is almost no learning curve. It is surprisingly much easier to remove my foot from the pedal than I thought it would be, but provides enough force to make a noticeable difference while climbing. They also work just fine as flat pedals for quick trips when you don’t want to put on your dedicated cycling shoes.

Love these pedals- all the benefits of being clipped in without the worry of not being about to bail out!

Way better than spd clip on!

Got these pedals for my wife. She’d been using clipless pedals for some time but never quite developed the muscle memory to unclip quickly when needed. After trying the magped pedals for only a few short rides, she’s able to disengage easily while still having the pedal efficiency of traditional clipless pedals. Set up wasn’t bad although the spacer provided was a little too thick and not using the spacer didn’t quite work with her spd sandals. However, we made a slimmer spacer and problem solved. we were able to adjust the magnet depth for optimum performance and ease of disengaging. Definitely the perfect pedal for her!

I have put about 100 miles on my gravel/bikepacking bike with these magpeg pedals. At first I was cautious because I wasn’t sure if the magnets were strong enough to hold up to hard pulls on the up stroke, but they do. I learned right away to mount the shoe metal plates as close to mid foot as I could get them in my five ten shoes. This puts them in the perfect position for me. You have to play with them yourself to find your own sweet spot. Another great thing about the magpeg is I can turn my feet to stretch without detaching from the magpeg, you can’t do that with a clipless set up. I found that it was fairly easy to turn my foot and lift in order to detach from the pedal. I have done some single track down hill with the bike and was pleased that not only did my shoes stay securely attached to the pedal but the pins themselves helped me stay on the pedal. This summer I am touring down the pacific coast and look forward to having the magpegs under foot. I am going to order another set for my mountain bike when I return. Nice simplistic way to stay on the pedal. A friend of mine is ordering a set for his road bike after trying mine out. Not just a fad, but I think this is the future for those that don’t like the traditional clipless. I’ll add to this review when I finish my coast tour.

Bought my first pair of Magped Sport 2 a month or so ago and like them so much I decided to change the pedals on a second bike. I’ve ridden road bikes for many years with SPD shoes and Egg Beater cleats and like that combination a lot. But with age I’ve decided I wanted something that still provides good attachment to the pedals but easier to disengage than clipless. The Magpeds certainly do the job. Perhaps not a good choice for full out sprinting but my sprinting days are long gone.

Don’t be afraid to get the stronger magnets, you can pull off easily enough. Great product.

Absolutely one of the best products in its class. Thank you to the individuals that helped me decide on the best pedal for my wife. A very well-made and well-engineered product that impresses me every time I look at her ahead of me. How refreshing to find this level of service and product!

Thanks so much for the kind review Keith, we hope you enjoy your pedals!

This is my third pair of these pedals in the last four years. I’ve really enjoyed them for enduro riding thru out the country. Just strong enough that you get the upstroke in your pedal but not strong enough that you can forego technique on technical uphill or jumping. Every shop I bring my bike to asks about these pedals and wants to try them so I’m surprised these aren’t more popular
Jen Fraser (store manager) –
Thank you so much Leo for taking the time to provide your awesome feedback. We designed the pedals exactly for what you described and are so happy to hear they are working for you. We are working on getting into more bike shops as there is definitely a demand. Enjoy the ride!

I think shipping was expensive but I love the petals

These pedals are fantastic. I’ve been riding flat pedals for years but have been wanting the extra pedaling power and engagement from clipping in without the danger and fear of being attached to my bike. These have been a wonderful compromise. I feel connected to my bike while still being able to pivot my feet if needed and can “unclip” very easily. I am so impressed and have already been telling everyone to give them a try!

excellent product and exact measurement. ideal for extreme descents. a lot of security

Great solid and just the right amount of grip from the magnet and pins. Recommended to anyone looking for little less restraint from a clueless sod pedal.

I love the product’s craftsmanship and its overall high end appearance. I just installed them on my mtb and they look spectacular.
I rode my bike around the block (it is night time) and they feel great. Easy to “clip” on and disengage. I can’t wait to test them out
tomorrow.

Thank you so much for the amazing feedback Ideliza, enjoy the ride!

So far they seem to be exactly what I need. I haven’t taken them for a ride yet but they are already WAY better than clips

The Magped team was awesome! I was helped with ordering and some last minute changes with excellent communication from the team. I have installed and used the Sport 2 product and they work great! No longer does my foot slip around on the pedal but not locked in like a clip. It is a perfect balance for my gravel bike. Love it!
Jen Fraser (store manager) –
Our pleasure Wes, we’re so glad that you are getting the most out of your SPORT2s!

The pedals did not work for me, but they may work for you. The caveat is that I ride a recumbent bike. My recumbent places the legs in a horizontal position. I found that in the horizontal position it is very hard to detach from the Magped pedals. On the recumbent with legs up high it is critical to be able to detach quickly. It is much easier for me to unclip from Frog or SPD clipless pedals. I do not have a conventional upright bike to test the Magped’s on, but I believe it would be much easier to detach from a vertical leg position. From all the videos and reviews on Magped’s upright riders seemed to have no issues with detaching from the pedals. If detaching would have been easy on my recumbent bike I would have gave pedals a 5. They are very nice pedals and very well made, and the ability to raise and lower magnet was a great idea on Magped’s part. Since the magnet can be raised and lowered Magped can use a much thinner and lighter metal piece attached to the shoe than Maglock pedals use.

I love these pedals! I love how easy they are to “lock in”, I love that I don’t have to wear my bike shoes and I love the vibrant colour! Everything was easy to install and I can’t wait to go on longer rides with these pedals!

Received today and installed on my fat trike. Great ! Worked perfectly for my discapacity related to a CVA.

Got these for my wife as she had no interest in clipping in. She likes the wider platform and feels more secure on the pedals without being clipped in.
Stuart M. (verified owner) –
I can exit fast when I need to and I can pedal a full circle. Excellent. I think I left the plate screws a little loose so I could adjust them and then forgot – lost and then found the plate and one of the screws. Put in the longer ones and cranked down on them. I assume this is a one-time problem caused by operator error.
William Green (verified owner) –
The pedals are nice, minimal packaging, extra pins. However, note these pedals won’t work with a traditional SPD cycling shoe because they have too much ‘rocker’ to engage the few pins. A newer flat-type shoe with the SPD cleats work well.
Chris Platt (verified owner) –
The magnets don’t actually adjust. I tried for 3 hours to get them to adjust inward before I layered tape under the metal plate to get the correct distance. Besides the magnet the rest of the pedal seems to have high quality.
Rick Hopp (store manager) –
Chris, I can fix you up. SOunds like you have a very deep sole inset on your shoes. If you like I can send you extra 2mm spacers that should correct your issue. Let me know.

An amazing company, fast, very friendly, very capable, great products. Very very good!!!
Manuel Aguilar (verified owner) –
So far so good they do click alil bothersome see if it goes away
Rick Hopp (store manager) –
Hi Manuel, the clicking noise likely means that you haven’t adjusted the magnet height properly. It is either too high which cause compression of the damper and loosening of the hardware on the downward powerstroke. This will eventually lead to a failure of the head nut due to excessive and unnecessary wear. The magnet could also be too low and your shoe plate will disengage the magnet and reconnect on the up stroke. The easiest way to adjust the height of the magnets is to take your shoe and place it on the pedal and have a good look to make sure it is positioned properly. Every shoe is different and you may need some minor adjustment to tune it properly. Once you have it zeroed in you should have no clicking issues. Let me know how it goes.

Very pleased with the product, got these for my wife and she found them very easy to use
Marcus C. (verified owner) –
Easy to install and work great – just get the right shoes
Richard B. (verified owner) –
Quality of the pedals were good but the magnet didn’t hold my feet from slipping off the pedals. I tried with spacer and without spacer, didn’t matter feet kept slipping forward off the pedals.
Rick Hopp (store manager) –
This should not happen and the common issues is the type of shoe you are using. Please have a look at the recommended shoe list on the magped website.
Dan Cagle (verified owner) –
I like the magnet side of the pedal but the flat side does not provide grip. I wish I had bought the pedal with magnets on both sides.
Rick Hopp (store manager) –
Dan, if you would like to exchange your purchase for a pair of Enduros we can do so so long as the pedals are banged up yet. Let me know and I can give you enough of a discount to pay for shipping back of your pedals. Once I receive the pedals I will ship the enduros back to you. If your interested let me know.
Cheers
Rick

I just tried them briefly, so I’m not entirely sure. They seem perfect, I am a perfect candidate for these – never got comfortable with clips. You should mention recumbents! Admittedly a small percentage of the market
